There are about 90 species of the bromeliad Neoregelia–they grow wild in the rainforests of South America. They come in an amazing variety of size, form, and color. They differ from other bromeliads in that they don’t have the towering flower bracts of other varieties—their flowers stay closer to the central cup, and the newer leaves flush different vibrant colors.
